Comments Thread For: Schaefer on Mayweather's Options, PPV Records, More

By Rick Reeno - Records, records and more records. Last Saturday’s mega-event at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas has cracked records that most experts felt were unbreakable. The event which Golden Boy Promotions/Mayweather Promotions tagged as - “The One” – was headlined by the biggest star in sport, Floyd Mayweather Jr., as he defended his status against an undefeated rising star in Mexico’s Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. After twelve rounds of action, Mayweather won a clear twelve round decision to hold his position as the pound-for-pound king.

Several weeks ago, “The One” broke the 2007 gate record, set by the Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather pay-per-view. A massive gate of $20,003,150 was generated. The event also produced a gate of $2,615,360 from closed circuit viewings in Las Vegas - with 26,163 tickets sold. [Click Here To Read More]

Out of all the rematches from the last couple of years, I could really only see myself getting up for a Ortiz fight.

Wasn't very cryptic, he flat out said it.

Any idea when his contract is up? Arum already said he's not working with Golden Boy and lets be honest here Floyd needs Golden boy for these mega fights. He can say he's his own promoter but honestly Schaefer really knows how to squeeze every last drop of blood out of these mega fights.

I want to see Ortiz vs. Canelo at 154. Both fighters are 165+ on fight night.

Floyd vs. Garcia or Khan is up next. Maybe even a Marquez rematch thrown in the mix if he is willing to leave Arum.

It was not a cryptic message to Manny, it was a crystal clear message: "Come to Golden Boy if you want a Floyd fight (or possibly a trilogy)..."

Rather Khan at the Wembley stadium. Garcia needs to establish himself at 147...
