The WBC's mandatory challenger, Bermane Stiverne (23-1-1, 20KOs) is not even contemplating a rematch with Chris Arreola (36-3, 31KOs). Stiverne wants to wait until the WBC's heavyweight champion, Vitali Klitschko (45-2, 41KOs), reveals whether or not he plans to keep fighting. There is a chance that Vitali, 42-years-old, will retire to pursue a full-time career in politics.

Vitali's plan is the best for all concerned. He fights and beats the winner of Haye/Fury as a final fight and then retires, and Stiverne can either be awarded the vacated belt or can rematch Arreola for it. Stiverne's team should be smart enough to go for it, they have a much better chance of being WBC champ under that scenario. Plus, seriously, I don't want to see VK's last fight be against Stiverne, he's a smaller version of Shannon Briggs except slightly better conditioning and workrate. VK beating him won't be a great, marquis fight to leave on, beating winner of Haye/Fury will be.

I , as a huge Vitali Klitschko fan, must recognize that it's not fair. But let's face it, wouldn't be a Vitali Klitschko vs David Haye fight a huge one ? It would be ideal to watch Vitali fight Stiverne in December and Haye in March/April 2014. Will his body and political activity allow him to do that? If he is still in his 2011-2012 shape then yes, definitely.

he already beat Arreola clearly and doesn't owe him anything
if Vit fights again it has to be against Stiverne, so just hold out

It's too bad Vitali is a name fighter. WBC won't do anything to jeopardize their money making potential with Viatli. At best, they'll have somebody profitable fight for the vacant then try to make a fight with Wlad

Yes, Stiverne should get his title shop asap. But lets be realistic he as a fighter and warrior should be staying active instead of waiting and mean while his skills erode. He still a fighter who is learning he aint got this boxing think down. Him staying in the gym isn't like fighting for reals in the ring. He best be doing something the other fighter is doing if he thinks his skills ain't going to diminish. I thought he had a real shot now i know he doesn't.
