  • Comments Thread For: Canelo: I'm on Schedule, Not Worried About Weight

WBC/WBA junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs) is not worried about the catch-weight of 152-pounds for his upcoming defense against undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs), which takes place on September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Canelo came in at 166.8-pounds for his 30-day weight check. It caused some concern among the fans. The Mexican star says there is no reason to worry about his ability to make the catch-weight limit.

I remember when Mayweather and his fans hated catch weights. Now, that he's facing another legit opponent (JMM was the last one), he has to manipulate the weight situation.

Who are his sparring partners again? I remember one of their names was posted on here and he fought nothing like Mayweather

Hmmm I'm more interested in Canelo's remarks concerning preparation for Mayweather. It seems like they are planning to pressure Floyd (assuming what Canelo says is true). We'll see how good Canelo is at cutting off the ring.
