Comments Thread For: Deontay Wilder Wants The Klitschkos Before They Retire

Heavyweight Deontay Wilder (29-0, 29KOs) has shown tremendous power as he has knocked out all 29 of his opponents with 16 of those knockouts coming in the very first round. Sergei Liakhovich was Wilder’s latest victim as he was knocked out in a matter of minutes two weeks ago and posed little to no threat to the 2008 Olympic bronze medalist.

Wilder has now reached a point in his career where the level of competition will continue to rise and he will be testing his power and skill against the bigger names of the division. While Wilder is still a few fights away from a title shot, his aspirations are to be able to dethrone the Klitschko brothers before they exit the sport. [Click Here To Read More]

Why not take a shot at greatness? He's obviously not ready now but in a year or two I think he should take a shot. Wlad will be nearly 40 and eventually he will fall if he hangs around too long. Wlad is a great champion but it only takes one punch.

Wilder says he wants to dethrone the Klitschkos but at the same time he is not ready yet and want to fight them when they are over the hill. Vitali is already retired or will fight one more time, thats it. But Wilder wants to fight shot Klitschkos because he knows he could never beat a prime Klitschko.

He will have to hurry then, cos there I a queue waiting to fight him. Plus he wont be around much longer. Manny Steward trained Wlad well, that is why Wlad is doing so well, but the longer he goes without Steward isn't good news for Wlad.

But Wlad may want Deontay while he is green. But then again maynot facing such a mighty puncher.

This isn't really his fault though. He's really in a different era from Wlad and Vitali. It happens all the time in the sport. A young fighter coming up dethrones an older champion on his way out. Wlad has been fighting since the 90s and Wilder started in 2008 with limited amateur experience. It's impossible for him to fight a prime Wlad. I would still favor a past prime Wlad to beat him anyway.
