Comments Thread For: Photos: Larry Holmes Visited By IBF, Gets New Belt

Springfield, NJ – IBF President Daryl Peoples and IBF Championships Chairman Lindsey Tucker visited former heavyweight champion Larry Holmes at his restaurant, Champ’s Corner Bar & Grill, in Easton, Pennsylvania to present him with a commemorative world title belt.

During the visit Holmes explained that his original belt was never returned when he lost his title to Michael Spinks on April 19, 1986. His publicist, Jay Newman, contacted the organization inquiring whether the belt could be replaced. Larry Holmes was presented with the current version of the world title belt engraved to commemorate the date he fought for the organization’s title. [Click Here To Read More]

Larry Legend, Big Jack... He Would Have Schooled BOTH Klitschko's Today

Larry had the greatest, most powerful jab of all times. He was a man amongst men. Even late in his career he stood in their and exchanged with Mike Tyson in Tyson's prime. He got off the canvas to battle Tyson. They don't make them like that anymore. One of the few guys that kept every nickel he ever made. Congratulations to the Easton Assassin!

Seem to remember the Bonecrusher fight, I think Dad and I watched it together... he got me into boxing in my teens. If I remember right, Bonecrusher gave Holmes some trouble a few times in there. But then as always Larry's jab saved the day for him. I remember Bonecrusher couldn't speak much after the fight from getting drilled in the throat by Holmes. He was paid a whopping $11,500 that night.
