Comments Thread For: WBC: Vitali Klitschko Will Not Return Until 2014

The World Boxing Council have announced that WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko is suffering from an injury to his right hand and won't return to the ring until 2014. Klitschko (45-2, 41 KOs), 42-years-old, was ordered to fight mandatory challenger Bermane Stiverne (23-1-1, 20KOs). The purse bid was postponed several times. Vitali has been inactive since last September's TKO victory of Manuel Charr in Russia. The WBC will not make a decision on Vitali's championship status until the first quarter of 2014.

      He won't get stripped either
How can you wait to decide his championship status until 2014?!
He hasn't fought since last year... that's clearly against your rules.
Why was Ward stripped then and it's been half the time for him. Ward fought and got stripped all during the time Vitali hasn't been fighting

        An excellent question.

It probably has to do with the fact that Ward also holds the WBA title.

That sucks. Vitali's career is definitely circling the drain.

He doesn't have anything now.... Froch/Kessler fought for it in May.
Still sucks though. Vitali should be stripped because the WBC would strip anybody else who didn't meet their criteria of fighting once every 6 months.
Of course since Vitali is the big money maker.....
