  • Comments Thread For: Klitschko, Povetkin Discuss Their Batlle in Moscow, Russia

Nearly 150 reporters from all over the globe (but mostly from Moscow, which surely doesn’t come as surprise) filled in the Mary Jane restaurant on the shores of the Moscow River to see the kick-off for the heavyweight showdown between the reigning Super WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO champion Wladimir Klitschko and his perennial challenger and WBA (“regular”) titleholder Alexander Povetkin. The fight between two Olympic super heavyweight gold medalists is penciled to take place on October 5 at Olimpiyskiy Palace of Sports under the Andrey Ryabinskiy promotion, represented by the bid-winner Hrunov Promotions.

Regarding Banks, Vlad says "...he is a much better trainer than he is a boxer." Ouch! Talk about a backhanded compliment.

Owwwwwcccchh... I think it might be time for Banksie to hang 'em up. If Wladimir is paying him well enough and doesn't actually think he's all that good at his main craft, why risk taking punishment for (presumably) chump change? Just live off the trainer job and maybe be a sparring partner for other HWs.

To tell the truth, I consider Russian, Belarussian and Ukrainian peoples to be parts of a single nation. I always root for fraternal Slavic sportsmen, and Wladimir is no exception
Loved reading that part. As much as I've ragged on Povs for all his ducking and shitty opposition over the past 5 years, him saying that shows he has class as a person and as a European native.

"Perennial challenger" LOL. That's one loaded term for Povetkin.
