Comments Thread For: Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Jose Ramirez in Talks for Oct. 12?

In the second lap of the 2011 Baku world amateur championship Ukrianian superstar Vasyl Lomachenko scored one of his toughest wins at unpaid ranks, winning a relatively close affair against future US Olympian Jose Ramirez.

Meanwhile, sources in Philippines indicate that Jose Ramirez can become the first pro opponent for a two-time world and Olympic gold medalist. However, that's not the same Jose Carlos Ramirez that Lomachenko previously met - but Mexican featherweight Jose Luis Ramirez Garcia (25-3, 15 KOs), a 25-year old WBO #7 rated contender, who is coming off a road split decision over 34-2 Filipino Ray Bautista.

I would love to see Lomachenko on the Marquez-Bradley undercard.

WAR LOMACHENKO... but isnt this tough for a first pro fight, 10 rounds and against a guy who is 25-3

I think that this Ramirez is a risky fight for Lomachenko for his first pro bout. he shoulf take a reasonably good journryman for his first fight to see how he ttanslatea his skills to the pro game.

I love the idea of Lomachenko fighting a ranked fighter in his pro debut and I have no doubt he will prevail. He knows how to fight for sure. We are talking about one of the greatest amateur boxers ever, who also has a pro style and he has already fought and won six times in the WSB (5 rounds without headgear) against high caliber opponents.

Lets not forget that Lomachenko has been fighting against some top lads in the WSB, most of them better schooled than Ramirez, the only thing that could be a problem is the 10 round distance. But I dont see it going that far. Similar to Rigondeaux I'm sure he would hold his own and probably win against any of the current world champs!!?

Damn it, I thought it was the US Olympian Jose Ramirez. Thought Arum was losing his mind.
