According to Panamanian promoter Rogelio Espino, IBF lightweight champion Miguel "Puppet" Vazquez (33-3, 13 KOs) will likely make his mandatory defense against Ammeth Diaz (32-11, 23 KOs) on the 28th in September in Tijuana, Mexico. Espino, who promotes Diaz, tried to get the rematch to Panama but he was unable to do so. Zanfer Promotions, who have Vazquez, won the IBF's purse bid with a $51,000 bid. The champion will receive 75% of that money. Vazquez previously defeated Diaz last year with a twelve round unanimous decision.

I have a feeling that Miguel Vazquez is going to win this fight by way of KO this time, there is no way Ameth Diaz deserves a rematch with the best lightweight champion on earth. Miguel Vazquez absolutely out-boxed and annihilated Ameth Diaz is the last fight they had.
