Comments Thread For: Magomed Likes Chris Arreola or Banks For Fall Return

Undefeated heavyweight contender Magomed Abdusalamov (18-0, 18KOs) is ready for a step-up opponent and says there is no issue with facing either Johnathon Banks (29-2-1, 19KOs) of Chris Arreola (35-3, 30KOs) in the fall. Magomed has already fought twice in 2013, stopping Victor Bisbal in five rounds in March and then destroying Sebastian Ceballas in the first round in April. Magomed's first choice would be Arreola, because of the Mexican boxer's fighting style.

Both of these guys are better, even Banks when not paid to lose or with 1 healthy hand. Can you imagine what Arreola would do to Mitchell?

Russian sites reported earlier today that Magomed will likely be on the Klitschko-Povetkin undercard on October 5.

Banks because he's a K-2 fighter would then be the logical opponent.

There's no way Mitchell would go to Moscow (in fact it's unlikely he'd fight a puncher like Magomed anywhere).

Magomed says they approached all the WBC-ranked HWs during the past couple of months (see link in my HW thread).

It's going to take some time with the hands though and I don't know if Arreola will go overseas

Depends how serious the hand injuries are.

But if not Banks, I can't think of another WBC-ranked HW contender who might be willing to fight Magomed in Moscow on Oct 5.

Nor is there any European based HW with the balls to travel to America. Tyson Fury and that's it. The Russian fighters are particularly scared to travel.

Tony Thompson has fought more times overseas in his last 3 fights than all top European heavies combined have fought in the US.

Not to mention Malik Scott, Eddie Chambers, Johathon Banks, Kevin Johnson, Deontay Wilder all going to fight or have fought multiple times in Europe.

Bryant Jennings would get on a plane and whoop ass on any of the Russian bums.

Guys like Helenius, Pulev, Boytsov, Dimitrenko, Povetkin and Haye are gutless jokes who practically crap their pants at the thought of fighting in hostile territory.

I don't really blame them I suppose. The only Euro HW with the sack to travel (Glazgov) got his ass kicked by Malik Scott.

How could Banks fight in the undercard when he's training Wlad for the main event? I don't think Wlad will let anybody else train him for the Povetkin fight.

Did you just start following boxing? Many european HWs fought on american soil in the late 90s and early 2000s, back when America gave a **** about heavyweight boxing. Nowadays a HW can make more money in Europe.
