Paulie Malanaggi has the power to ko ufc guys. He'd be like tyson over there with those butt ****ing rasilin boys chinsRoy is 44yrs. old. He's been shot for the better part of 10 yrs. The only question is this,....DOES HE EVEN HAVE A BREATH OF WHAT HE USED TO BE. Because this is all it would take to take out Silva. That is assuming it is a boxing rules match. If it is MMA,....Roy will get pulverized.
Roy is one of the boxers of the last 20 years that would have done well in UFC if he WAS IN HIS PRIME!!
Roy had one shot power,..was crazy and explosively fast with either hand. His footwork was deceptive and maneuverable enough to avoid the takedown.
Other fighters who may have done well in UFC(WITH MMA rules!!!):
1)Manny Pacquiao. For some of the same reasons as Roy
2)Arturo Gatti. Great power,..pretty fast(especially compared to MMA guys)
3)Kostya Tzu. Power, power, power. And fast.
4)Floyd Mayweather,...he might surprise you with his ability to defeat an mma guy.
5)Shane Mosley. Power, Speed, could start fast.
6)Mike Tyson. He may have been the most successful of the lot.
Essentially the type of boxer that would do good in MMA must possess the following:
1)Power. One or two shot power. Too at least severely buckle.
2)Very accurate.
3)Ability to start quickly and not "feel out" and time like in a strategic boxing match.
4)Footwork to avoid a takedown. Not all my fighters listed had this one.
5)Tough and gritty. Killer instinct.Comment

If silva really wants to box him he will and roy will decimate him and when silva realizes that he'll take it the ground and roy will lose. Roy might be shot but with them lil ass gloves and the speed if his hands he'd still tag anybody he just can't take a punch worth ****...Comment

You sure, dude? Roy works for the network now and a fight between he and Silva would generate HUGE (although misguided) public interest. Ratings and money talk; Jones-Silva would do big numbers on HBO; all the boxing guys from the past decade would tune in to see if Roy could still do it, all the MMA guys would be watching to see if Silva could take Jones out.Comment

If this fight ever did happen, in UFC, I don't think Silva would attempt to grapple with Roy. I'm sure it would be a stand up fight for as long as it lasts which would be good for Roy, until Silva kicks him in his chinless head.Comment

Good luck trying to get the idiot brigade to understand your point....Ironickly enough you contradict yourself regarding your point about a so called "knowledgable fan base"....No no no mr New England....fact is idiots abound in both boxing and MMA. There is also a knowedgable contingency in each fan base. In MMA its black and white though... you have some very knowledgable people (yours truly has trained a few ringers in the Bay Area) and some real freakin idiots! In Boxing you have many stratospheres of fans. Latino fans are knowledgable in some ways, older fans in other ways and of course you have some idiots.
The fact remains though: If Dana can sell this fight? the collective IQ of humanity will have gone down a few points.
Folks its very simple really. All an MMA player has to do to a boxer is clinch. Most punches land the way they do because both guys are trying to punch each other with the same type of blows....thats a fact. Japanese police were handling service men who boxed on shore leave for ages....the Japanese police were Judoka and what they did was virtually what one would do with any boxer. When they come foward to punch, the head goes down the shoulder comes up and tucks under the punch to where the hands can now turn the boxer around just enough to prevent another punch, and the boxer is grabbed under the waist and transferred to the hip or back and carried away to the paddy wagon.Comment

you guys are all freaking out but I watched an interview today from the other day where Anderson said his dream was to BOX roy Jones. The Interviewer Ariel Heilwani even asked "why not Andre Ward or Floyd Mayweather" since roy is so passed his prime but Anderson said it was always his dream to have a BOXING match with Roy.
Dana knows that too. So everyone should relaxComment
