Comments Thread For: Golovkin Eyes Martin Murray Defense on November 2nd

Gennady Golovkin wants to defend his WBA middlewight title against Martin Murray.

The unbeaten Kazakh underlined his credentials as a superstar in the making with a three-round destruction of Matthew Macklin at the weekend.

And, according to his manager, next on the agenda is another Briton in the shape of St Helens man Murray, whose latest world title bid ended in a disputed points loss to Sergio Martinez in Argentina in April.

"Gennady has already said that he wants to fight Martin Murray next," manager Oleg Hermann told World Boxing News.

    Great fight for Mr. HBO.

I'm sure Murray will take this as he will be offered good money.

that most likely means no fight in august or september as it would be too quick of a turn around. I was hoping for Murray in early september and gaele/barker winner in december, but that is asking a bit much

I'm looking forward to this. Murray might be GGG hardest test to date.

GGG is trying to beat up all of Martinez' last couple opponents in order to set up that fight. But what he doesn't realize is that fight is already set up. He's not gonna get any of the top middleweights in Nov. I think Sakio Biko for a super middleweight trinket makes a lotta sense.

I doubt it. Too much problems for making this fight. GGG will likely fight another easy to beat opponent in order to feed the hype, until he has to face an elite fighter and get his harsh reality-check.

A Bika fight makes little to no sense.

The undisputed middleweight champion of the world, "Sugar" Cesar Chavez called out Golovkin a few days ago and, Golovkin's response is to challenge One Direction's back up dancer?

                  Some shameful shit, GGG.
