Comments Thread For: Mendez on Barthelemy: Didn't Impress Me, He'll Get His Turn

Rances Barthelemy earned a mandatory title shot against 130 lb. titlist Argenis Mendez with a one-punch body-shot knockout of Fahsai Sakkreerin in their ESPN2-televised main event Friday evening in Minnesota.

However, it won’t be the next bout in queue for Mendez, who is penciled in for an optional title defense on August 23 in Las Vegas.

In an ironic twist, Mendez’ opponent will be Arash Usmanee, who suffered a controversial split decision loss to Barthelemy on ESPN2 earlier this year. The 130 lb. title fight will headline an independent pay-per-view at a Las Vegas location to be determined, with more surprise announcements to come. [Click Here To Read More]

He can wait his turn while the guy who beat him gets the shot first, its only fair.

Argenis Mendez is too good, I think he's the best in that weight class.

Rances would lose this fight. I'll be rooting for him, but Mendez would be too much.

It's a damn insult to Boxing that Arash Usmanee the guy who beat Rances, not only did not get the next TV date on ESPN, the guy he beat did, and to top that off, now Rances is being talked about for a title shot!! What kind of BULLSHT slap in this face this is to Arash Usmanee, the guy who conquered Rances??!! Teddy alway barks a big bark but why didn't he stand up and demand they bring back Usmanee on ESPN instead of the guy he conquered???

Yeah, I'll be rooting for Rances as well; but I don't think he'll be tearing up the division either. Barthelemy is a decent fighter with some heart. He should put on a good show.

You really think Argenis Mendez is average? Wow...that's new to me. I guess you close your eyes when you watch him fight.
