Comments Thread For: Canelo: Mayweather was in the same position I'm in now

The kickoff press conference for the September 14th Floyd Mayweather-Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez super fight was held on Monday afternoon in New York and there was a large turnout in advance of one of the biggest fights in years.

At 22 years old, the WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Alvarez finds himself a clear underdog heading into the match yet he seems completely comfortable with the situation.

Speaking to various members of the media during a roundtable-style discussion, the young titlist from Jalisco, Mexico brushed off the notion that the magnitude of the event may get to him in the coming months.

“I’m ready for this fight,” Alvarez stated. “I’m going to be ready for the pressure. I’m a very serious person. I take everything very serious and Floyd can do whatever he wants; he’s not going to take me out of my game plan.”

for me he got a better chance than floyd's previous opponents since retirement. do i think he can beat floyd though? no, and with the uncertainty of the catchweight effect on him it's hard to bet on canelo. i like the kid's patience and determination though. i'm just not sure how he reacts once floyd show him lots of movements and angles. would he still going to stick to his gameplan once he starts missing a lot of his punches?

Canelo has a way better chance than Ortiz and Guerrero put together!!! And he talks less trash than both of them put together also. So there is nothing wrong with the humble Canelo going for his dream... I don't think he got into boxing thinking he wasn't the best or wasn't going to try to be the best ever... The haters are all the people that don't shoot for anything in life.. they just try to survive by the bare minimum at best... Let the best man win Mayweather or Alvarez September 14.

Shut off Jr's exits and pound him for three mins per round, by round nine if he is still there will have to clean his trunks, but , due to Canelo's power if he shuts down the exits some shot will land and we will see Canelo's killer instinct take place, if he really has it he will put JR down for good.

And so it goes way back in History... Since Pythagoras emerged victor in the boxing contest at the Olympic games, 588 B.C.

nah, its just pure hate. Alot of these same posters were saying Floyd was scared of him and that he would beat or trouble Floyd. Then Floyd signs and they try to act like its an easy win so they can come out looking good no matter what happens
