Comments Thread For: Sadam Ali Inks Pact With Golden Boy Promotions

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK - A member of the 2008 United States Olympic team and a young man considered a legitimate contender for world title honors in the coming years, Brooklyn welterweight Sadam Ali is now the latest member of the star-studded Golden Boy Promotions roster, having signed an exclusive promotional agreement with the Los Angeles-based promoter.

"This is the biggest moment of my professional boxing career, but not the last big moment," said Ali. "Golden Boy Promotions is the top promoter in the game today and I waited for this day for a long time. Now the next step is fighting the best and winning a world title."

"We've watched Sadam develop over the years and he's without a doubt a young man with the potential to win several world titles," said Oscar De La Hoya, President of Golden Boy Promotions. "He brings excitement in the ring and has a huge fan following. We're confident that he has the tools to become a star on both the local level fighting in his hometown of Brooklyn at Barclays Center as well as around the world." [Click Here To Read More]

And the backing in Brooklyn... makes all the sense in the world to sign him now.

Yeah Definitely.......Brooklyn has a lot of quality prospects....only problem is the Brooklyn mentality of arrogance which in my mind is a double edged sword. On one hand it empowers you because you feel a certain kind of way and confident and proud and at the same time the arrogance can hinder your growth......but good luck to Sadam

Is that a good move though? How good is Ali? Is he a future champ? When he turned pro many people thought he was going to be the next big thing but nothing happened and he has only fought a bunch of D-list fighters.

No bull at all, man. Brooklyn has produced some amazing talent over the decades, but like you said, the mentality has been a bit of a heel. It should be interesting to see how GBP moves World Kid. He was a solid Olympian years back but he could never draw enough interest. Barclay's changed all of that, though!

He just never landed that deal with a big promoter or adviser. He must not have came across as big money, either.

                  What took so long ?

This kid could've been champion already dot know what took so long for him to ink a promoter. Didn't the promoters think he was good enough or was his advising. Had heard he turned promoter didn't know what that was about. But finally hopefully GBP could move this kid the proper way an make him the champion he can be
