Ward was not in Froch's position, he was in the driver's seat.

Again, I wanna make it clear that I don't hate Froch or even criticize him (he's a warrior who comes to fight, much respect), I just wanted to kill this myth that he chases the toughest opposition. Hell, the thread title alone should kill it.

It's not a myth because he does. He has fought everyone who is anyone at 168. Whether he got paid heavily for those fights or not is irrelevant. Certain fighters will walk away from huge money and big fights (Ward-Bute, Mayweather-Pacquiao). He could have chosen another route quite easily.

As for this thread - it could just be posturing. Showing Ward that he is ready to move on if he doesn't want to accept the offer to come to England. Or it could be that Eddie Hearn doesn't want the fight.

You don't measure that based on tickets sold. How many people tuned in? How much money did Froch make? Could he have made that much against anybody else at that stage? Also that was his first fight with Showtime if I'm not mistaken.

Oh you don't.. Hmm, I'm sure Froch would have made more money had the fight sold 10k.

Other than that, I remember Taylor saying he was fed up of press conferences where there was one or two journalists there and that's why he took the Froch fight. And what other options did Taylor have at the time? Not many, if i'm remembering correctly. So Froch was just as big a fight for Taylor as the other way around,

I'm doing a lotta defending of Ward, mainly because Froch's fans are delusional and ******. But ultimately, Ward is at fault for the situation he's in. He has options, he just doesn't wanna take them because he doesn't wanna leave the comfort zone (the super middleweight division that's he's already laid waste to.) Ward could easily move up to light heavy and start cleaning out that division. Instead, he'd rather sit back and wait for middleweight stars to come to him. That's on him. But ultimately, all he's gonna have while he's waiting is chasing around recycled victims like Froch that really want no part of him.

As for Froch, as long as he's fighting in the same division as Ward, he'll need Ward more to be relevant, no matter how many "options" he has. Because regardless of whom he fights and beats, the question will always remain, "when are you gonna fight Ward?" Because seeing Ward, he can't be considered the best. And that's in a P4P sense too. Ward is gonna be a thorn in his ass that's never going away. No matter how much he or his fans try and downplay and dismiss it.

Froch is openly speaking about Ward being the best and saying it's a very hard fight for anyone. Fact is, other than hardcore fans, nobody really knows Ward's name. The broadcasters aren't interested and the casual fan certainly isn't either. Anyone of the 4 I mentioned would probably get better ratings and better fights (maybe not hopkins) than the Ward fight.

And Froch is the cashcow in the SMW division at this moment in time. He and Kessler are the only ones fighting on PPV, so i'm safe in saying that Froch is indeed very relevant in the division, though he isn't #1. But at this stage of his career, I really don't think anybody cares too much.

Ward-Bute was arguably the second most lucrative fight in boxing at the time. Most fighters would have taken it.

if Froch doesn't want the rematch with Ward...thats fine!!....but to keep mentioning his name is almost as comical as Froch being called THE MAN at 168....since Froch can't **** with Ward INSIDE the ring he attacks him with OUTSIDE the ring long distance jabs

I like Froch alot, in fact...I picked him to win the S6....I thought he'd beat Ward as well....so I rock with Froch heavy...so heavy that I felt it was flat out disrespectful for most posters here to pick Bute over him...that **** made me mad as ****

Froch is a rare breed. He took the fights when he didn't have to. Cunningham HAD to fight abroad or else he wouldn't get paid as he has no fanbase. Some for GGG.

How big was Froch's fanbase when he fought Taylor? There's a reason why he wanted to establish himself against a big name in the U.S. on Showtime, because he wasn't that big a star in the UK. He said himself that he didn't get the exposure he deserves, it's only after the super 6 that he became a star.

He gets as much credit for taking the Bute fight as Judah does for taking the Garcia fight.

Guys who don't have much time left almost never turn down a big opportunity when they receive it.
