    A few days ago, BoxingScene.com reported that junior middleweight contender James Kirkland had been arrested for assault in Austin, Texas. The boxer was taken to the Travis County Jail and held on $5,000 bail.

    According to official police documents obtained by BoxingScene.com, on June 15th there was an incident between Kirkland and girlfriend of two years, Frances Diane Campbell. The two of them were hanging out with friends and drinking at a night club off of East 12th street.

    Apparently Campbell became angry with Kirkland for checking out another woman [the mother of his child] at the night club. Campbell, who felt disrespected, asked Kirkland to step outside of the night club and the two of them would proceed to argue. They exchanged words and left together in a car to go home.
