Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia: Juanma Still Has a Future, Can Win a Belt

Undefeated Mikey Garcia (32-0, 27KOs) believes Juan Manuel Lopez (33-3, 30KOs) is still capable of doing big things in the sport of boxing. Although he's a few weeks away from turning 30, Lopez looked like a shot fighter on Saturday night in Dallas - as Garcia easily finished him off in four one-sided rounds. It was far from the Lopez most remember a few years ago, when he was regarded as one of the best fighters in the sport. The loss to Garcia was Lopez's third TKO defeat in his last six fights.

Juanma said in an interview they are friends so it's not surprising, plus I guess he doesn't want to discredit his win either but anybody that knows boxing would tell him to retire.

I think Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. would KO him within 6 rds right now, that's how done he is.

That's a fight that should be made Vasquez Jr vs Juanma. Looser retires.

JuanMa did try to box and fight smart it just wasn't enough to beat Garcia. I think he can still beat some guys at 126 or 130. He needs to get a better trainer in there. He looked puzzled and lost in the ring almost like they didn't have a game plan or if they did have a game plan it was weak.

Garcia might say whatever he wants. Juanma was a southpaw stationary target -- no upperbody and head movement...
Game plan: jab-jab, straight right... until tagged...

Juanma can definately win a belt.

Something along the lines of Francisco Valcarcel Special Edition Cubic Zirconia belt.

I would have said diamond belt, but I'm sure he would have to face another monster from Mexico for it, so you know that's a no go.

Funny. But I would add it comes with imitation gold plating on the buckle.

                  Pffffft... BS.

Juanma is damaged from his fight career. He's incapable of properly defending himself inside a prize ring at this point. His reflexes are not what they should be and his feet are ridiculously slow. He doesn't need to take any more punishment.
