Estadio Sonora in Hermosillo, Mexico - In a battle for former champions, Hernan “Tyson” Marquez (36-3, 26 KOs) won a lopsided twelve round unanimous decision over Carlos “Olimpico” Tamara (23-8-1, 17 KOs) in a WBO flyweight eliminator. The scores were 119-109, 120-108 and 120-107. Marquez controlled the fight and dropped Tamara in the fifth round. Tamara was game but he was unable to do any serious damage to Marquez or change the tide of the match.
