Comments Thread For: Dereck Chisora v. Malik Scott Announced, 7/20 In London

By Jake Donovan - Another press conference, another attempt to get Dereck Chisora back in the ring against an undefeated American heavyweight.

Promoter Frank Warren held a media session Thursday afternoon at Landmark London Empire Suite to discuss two major items regarding the British heavyweight - his revised next fight date and his new opponent.

The lesser of the two secrets confirmed a previous announcement that Chisora will return on July 20 at Wembley Arena in London. The presser revealed unbeaten Philly product Malik Scott as the opponent of choice for the event, which will air live on BoxNation in the United Kingdom. [Click Here To Read More]

Lets hope Scott doesn't get jobbed. Tough fight for Chisora. I figured they would let him re-establish himself before putting him up vs tough competition.

Warren selling out Chisora with this fight. Scott is awkward, talented and not well known. This is lose lose for Chisora as far as im concerned. He's coming off a crappy win over an overmatched opponent and 3 losses, Warren would be forgiven for giving Chisora another soft fight.

        Poor promoting imo.

On the fight i think its winnable for both guys but i would have Scott the favourite. Chisora has done well in the past against guys with no headmovement (Helenius, Sexton, old injured Vitali) but struggled to land on Haye. Scott has decent head movement for a big guy.

Where Chisora could worry scott is with his workrate. If he can slip inside the jab and work on the inside, ****ing the body he can outscore Scott. Hometown judging could come into this aswell as Scott is an easy fighter to rob.

Horrible match up for Chisora, what is Warren thinking? Tall, top boxer with no apparent chin problems. He can range around and pick Chisora apart. The Wilder fight would have been perfect for Chisora, I would have really liked him in that, since Wilder has shown chin issues and is an incomplete boxer relying on power, which Chisora generally handles well. With Scott, even with hometown judging its gonna be tough. Scott is usually regarded in top 20-30, and Chisora top 15, so if Chisora wins won't do him much good, but great move for Scott. If he wins it puts him in top 15 and in a good position to argue for a title shot. If Chisora loses, it really puts him at the gatekeeper level. There were plenty of other safer fighters for Chisora in that range, Boytsov, Pianeta, Dimitrenko, Glazkov. As is I'd have to make Scott a slight favorite.

Horrible horrible promoting, Chisora is being thrown out to the wolves. He should have established himself better before taking on Malik Scott who I rate as the 4th best HW in the world.......... I will say one thing though, this fight will remind the fans a bit of the old school heavies.
