Lennox Lewis ever deserve fighter of the year?

Lennox Lewis never received the Ring Magazine award of Fighter of the Year. You think he ever deserved it? Holyfield got it in 1997 when he won by DQ over Tyson and beat Michael Moorer pillar to post. That year Lewis KO-1 Golota, Akinwande refused to stop holding so Mills Lane called it off, and Oliver McCall threw a temper tantrum and Mills Lane called it off.
I feel like Lewis deserved it in '97, but regardless sad to see he never got the award. A few others never did but I feel Lewis not getting it stands out the most.

I voted yes but I'm not really sure. I know he had some very good wins but I don't know if they happened in the same year and what his competition for the award did. I am just giving him the benefit of the doubt and guessing there must have been at least one year that he might have been a good choice for fighter of the year. His draw with Holyfield was really an impressive win and he really did a number on Tyson.

De La Hoya and his bum of the month club run probably should have been the 'fighter of the year' during that year.

yes definatly...by the logic that Holyfield got it 97 for a non existing win over Tyson and a W over McCall who lost 3 years pror to that to an 68 year old Foreman and did nothing great in between Lewis should got it in 99 for beating Holyfield twice with ease...its really a shame IMO...

but again its also a shame that from 96 - now Floyd didnt get the FOTY every year cause we all know that since 96 he is dominating the sport of boxing
