Comments Thread For: Rubio vs. Ma***ski Could Land on 7/27; WBC Interim?

According to Mariusz Kolodziej, founder of Global Boxing, he received an offer to match his boxer, Patrick Ma***ski (20-1, 13 KOs), against Marco Antonio Rubio (57-6-1, 49 KOs) on July 27 in Mexico, with the WBC interim-middleweight title likely at stake. Rubio is the mandatory challenger to the full middleweight champion Sergio Martinez, who may not fight again until 2014 due to several injuries suffered in his last defense.

Dammit Rubio, you're already the mandatory for Quillin. Go chase the WBO. The **** are you settling for an interim title? HBO won't accept Martinez-Rubio so is not like you're going to get a payday out of Martinez.

Because not only can he win it, but it might turn into a full title thanks to Sergio's lay off.
Best chance he has at a world title

Given this talk, I hope they at least offered it to Jose Miguel Torres. He's crap too in the context of title consideration, but he beat Ma***ski in both guys' most recent notable fight. I wonder who paid to get Ma***ski in this position, considering he's not even in the top 50...
