Matthyse and a prime Hatton would be a brutal brawl. People forget that Hatton could take big shots prior to Mayweather breaking the seal on his chin. 50-50 fight.

that fight could go either way, but would lean toward Cotto

Difference between Tszyu and Matthysse is that, although Tszyu was much better technically, he would stop working when Hatton got in close; Matthysse wouldn't have. That matters more than Tszyu's better technique in this matchup.Comment

People are giving Matthysse to much credit.
Prime 140lbs Hatton was a very good fighter and would have a great chance.
Cotto a little green but polished enough to stand a great chance too.
Personally I'd favor both Hatton & Cotto but equally Matthysse has a good chance is a very live slight under dog.Comment

Cotto only had chin problems at the tail end of his 140 career when weight became a real struggle, prior to that his chin was raved about. The guy took a flush right from Bailey among other heavy shots! He was also far more skillful than Lucas and more mobile too, His own punch was more punishing there (again before weight issues began) than it was even at 147

Hatton i could see getting stopped but then if he closed the gap quick enough like vs Tzsyu then who knows, Ricky at his best was a handful manComment
