Comments Thread For: Hryunov Confirms Jones Test, Don King is Fired Up

BoxingScene.com has spoken with both promoters, Vladimir Hryunov and Don King, who confirm that WBA cruiserweight champion Guillermo Jones (39-3-2, 31KOs) took a post-fight drug test following his eleventh round TKO of Denis Lebedev at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Russia.

The Russian Anti-Doping Agency [cooperates with the World Anti-Doping Agency] handled the post-fight test.

Regarding the confusion in the Russian media, there was a dispute between the two promoters regarding the handling of the post-fight test.

Good to see someone who can think like King. Getting many samples was the right thing to do because I know many people were not happy their hero got a good old beating. It would have been easy to just claim Jones failed a drug test so their fighter would look good. If this was a small time promoter then Jones would have his win tainted.

Who handled the sample King got though? Obviously King just can't take it home with him and then give it to VADA. And he can't give it to Russian commission either because he doesn't trust them apparently. Did King come up with this idea beforehand and had a VADA guy come to the fight to take the sample, or was it something he came up with out of the blue?

EDIT: It says he wanted a sample for his own physician. Was the physician the guy who took the sample? Can the physician be trusted? The whole chain custody would be broken if the VADA guys didn't take the sample themselves.

Am sure it's the same sample that was given to the Russians, it's just to avoid all the shadiness that happens in boxing. Same sample but different testers but it should be the same result.

I had guessed this was what happened. They were concerned the Russians would fake the test results to try and incriminate Jones.
