Comments Thread For: Robert Garcia: Pacquiao-Rios Will Be Very Explosive

2012 “Trainer of the Year” Robert Garcia believes that the clash between Manny Pacquiao and Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios at the Cotai Arena in the Venetian Resort Hotel in Macao on November 24 will be more exciting that the fights of undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Garcia told BoxingScene.com/Manila Standard that while Mayweather is probably the best fighter in the world and “is very smart and very technical, his fights are not as exciting as the fights of Pacquiao or Rios and the people will enjoy their fight” in Macau.

Mayweather scored a lopsided, 117-111 unanimous decision over Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas last Saturday where less than 16,000 watched the fight at the venue and many left even before the fight ended while others booed the lack of action that fight fans love to see. I have to agree this is going to be an incredibly exciting fight while it lasts but see Pacquiao winning by knockout late in the fight.

Rios won't be drained... but I bet he'll be pudgy. It'll be funny seeing him chase Pac around while he pops in and out

All those idiotic Arum-haters should take noted: he's putting in his best fighter with a punishing young gun. This is a great fight.

When was the last time Mayweather has agreed to fight someone who's a real threat?

Man, Pac better end this guy. Anything less and I'll be disappointed. Rios has no business in a ring with a Pacquiao anywhere near past prime.

            Edit: Pacquiao will be explosive...

This is Pacquiao-Diaz II... Rios is tailor made for Pacquiao. He is going to have to take a beating to even make it competitive. After being knocked unconscious in his last fight, Pacquiao deserves a "soft touch" (quotations because Rios is only a soft touch for Pacquiao and those on the level I assume he's still on)...

It's going to be open season on Brandon's face.

I wouldn't be surprised if Pac lands something like 80% of his power punches before Brandon gets knocked out of there.

Everyone seems to be thinking the way I am: this is a bad mismatch. Even if Manny is past it (and he just might be), Rios is in for a pasting. I disagree with the idea that this is a "good action fight." We may as well look forward to every beating a limited, come-forward fighter is going to take versus a fast, explosive, athletic, talented athlete. I'm sure people will be lining up, though, to watch Pacquiao dish out an ass-whooping.

                    a punishing young gun?!?! LMAO

rios is a tomato can. he is a disgrace and an absolute joke of a fighter. arum is incredibly smart, and he is putting in a popular fighter that casual fans think is this tough brawler to face manny, so that manny could get a brutal KO victory and boost his confidence and get back in the mix of things. rios is not there to test manny. he is there to fulfill his purpose as a walking punching bag, and calling rios that much is even a compliment to him. this is not a fight. this is a "here you go manny, have a nice meal" type of affair. rios is gonna die in there
