Comments Thread For: Robert Guerrero vs. Victor Ortiz Possible For September

MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer discussed the fall return former welterweight champion Victor Ortiz (29-4-2, 22KOs). The boxer is slated to return on a date in September.

Ortiz has been inactive since June 2012, when he suffered a broken jaw in a ninth round TKO loss. Ortiz underwent surgery and then took part in the very popular "Dancing With The Stars" reality series.

Schaefer said one possible opponent for Ortiz, which the golden promoter expects to be a great fight - is the recently beaten Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero (31-2-1, 18KOs). [Click Here To Read More]

Floyd needs to either move up to 154 and take some risks, or accept the complaints from the fans that he's not fighting who they want him to fight.

Its obvious that nobody at 147 can give Floyd a challenge, skill for skill, and that the only advantage somebody can have versus him at the ripe age of 36 (closer to 37 by the time Sept rolls around) is to outweigh him by 20 pounds.

People ***** because Floyd doesn't fight the guys they want him to fight, period. The *****s will eat any fight up that he puts on their TV screen, but there comes a point where 1-sided beat downs aren't entertaining to watch as a fan.

Nowhere in this post am I discrediting Floyd's skill, he's clearly the best fighter (maybe Ward is on equal ground) pound 4 pound, I just don't think Floyd will go up and fight real 154 pound fighters to test himself. That's not why he fights, he does it for the money period.

Ortiz- Guererro is a good fight and I hope it gets made. I also hope Lopez fights Khan and also just hope they don't give Guererro to fight Alvarez. Let Guererro continue at 147lbs. He's still an excellent boxer who will damage many guys. I hope the lure of money will not force him to fight at 154lbs prematurely.
