  • Comments Thread For: Haye is Hungry To Get a Knockout Win Over Charr

David Haye feels he will have to train as hard as he ever has done in preparation for his clash with Manuel Charr - but insists he is not concerned about ring rust, despite having been out of action for almost a year.

The bout at Manchester Arena on June 29 will see former WBA heavyweight champion Haye fighting for the first time since his grudge match victory over fellow Briton Dereck Chisora in London in July 2012.

Charr, 28, has been in action on three occasions since then, suffering a controversial defeat at the hands of WBC champion Vitali Klitschko before bouncing back with two victories to take his record to 23 wins with just one defeat.

Haye (26-2), who had come out of retirement to fight Chisora, has no doubt he has his work cut out getting in shape for this contest, but has emphasised that he will be ready for Charr.

I'm going to jump on the assumption that he's not on Assad's side.

I like Haye and think he's great for the sport, but wasn't he ****ting all over Charr last year? Calling him a nobody?

Thats what Haye does, talks alottta shiiiit then runs around the ring like alittle girl not even trying to fight. The only reason he had a good fight with Chisora is because Chisora came out chin up guns a blazing leaving himself open all night. If he did that vs Vital or Helenius he would of got KO'd too.

Haye will then claim he's the rightful #1 contender lol

That's not true at all. Haye had a pitiful showing against Wlad and had pick his spots against Valuev (for obvious reasons), but he is usually in decent fights. Haye is also clearly the #3 HW in the world- only a total hater could or would deny that.

Based on what? I don't even try to rank Heavyweights because their all so embarrassing for the sport with all these cherry picks. When 2 guys both with a year layoff in Arreola & Stiverne fight for title shot then you know somethings wrong. Also Wlad & Vital seem to pick random ass nobodies from left field like Charr, Mormack, and Pineta.

Not to mention Haye has barely even fought since that embarrassing performance against Wlad. Has fought once since then, and that was nearly 2 years ago.Now wants to be a hyprocrite calling charr a bum and now all the sudden hes worthy.

Adamek has more of a case for #3 if you ask me and his wins are even debatable.

I have Povetkin ranked above Haye.

The Klitschkos aren't cherry pickers in the classical definition- that would imply that everyone wants to fight them but they would rather beat up cab drivers. The opposite is true- rarely has there even been a time in which the top contenders are not at all interested in testing themselves against the champions.

Sure, HW division sucks. It sucks so badly that it's pretty easy to rank Haye above the field based merely on his intermittent activity and obvious skill set. I don't know many people who would pick either Povetkin or Adamek to beat Haye. Povetkin has struggled with blown-up cruisers who weren't nearly as good as Haye was at 200lbs and who brought less power and speed up with them. Adamek has clearly declined after a great career, though I wouldn't pick a prime Adamek (though I think his prime was at 175) against Haye either.

If Solis could control his weight and establish some consistency, he could easily be #3. Pulev is still untested against top opposition. Fury has flaws and is still very young. Helenius is wildly overrated and got owned by Chisora. Chisora is solid but lacks explosive power and already got KOed by Haye. Adamek is far too small for the HW division and has taken far too much abuse. Wilder has never beaten anybody of note and has major flaws. Povetkin is inconsistent and has defensive flaws. Thompson is solid but unspectacular. Stiverne is plodding and has defensive flaws. Chagaev is solid but unspectacular.
