Comments Thread For: 7-Day Weights: Mayweather at 148.5, Guerrero at 153

Floyd Mayweather was already nearly at the welterweight limit about a month before his May 4 pay-per-view main event against Robert Guerrero at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas — and with a week to go, he was even closer.

Robert Guerrero, meanwhile, still had half a dozen pounds to lose in half a dozen days, according to figures provided by World Boxing Council official William Boodhoo.

Mayweather came in at 148.5 pounds on April 26, according to the WBC. Guerrero was at 153 pounds on April 27.

Robert Guerrero has gotten big. Its crazy that he was able to fight at 126-135.

Yea. Wait till he really settles in at this weight.
I think 153 is perfect for coming into this weekend. Minor cut that gives him slightly more size but won't affect him at all at the weigh-in.

Damn, Guerrero is a big boy. Not a huge Welterweight or anything, but solid.

This should prove that Floyd was never no 155-160lbs against any one at any point of his career on fight night, including the Marquez fight. The guy obviously walks around 152 tops. I think in his fattest days, he's probably 153 and that's pushing it. In HBO's unofficial scales, with god knows wearing what, his heaviest was 151lbs. So people need to stop with the myths of Floyd coming in at 160 against Marquez.

Does anyone know how much Guerrero has weighed on fight night for his past WW fights?

I don't know much about cutting weight but I would've thought that having to lose 6lbs in a week would be a bit of a task, no? Has Guerrero left it a bit late?

Ghost is a HUGE ww. Someone like Ortiz is heavier, but short and stocky. Weight and size is not the same thing. Ghost is lighter, but bigger, wider back, bigger head, thicker bones. He's the size of a throwback ww. He is HUGE. His frame looked twice the size as Floyd's, and I predicted that he would be too big for Berto.
