Comments Thread For: Omar Figueroa Inspired By Tim Bradley's Recent War

Lightweight contender Omar Figueroa created a serious buzz this last Saturday night when he knocked out the previously undefeated Abner "Pin" Cotto in the opening stanza of the Showtime televised fight. The fight served as the chief co-feature of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez's unanimous decision victory over Austin Trout that took place in San Antonio, TX.

Figueroa appeared on this week's edition of BoxingScene Radio to talk about his performance. He said that he expected to make quick work of the Puerto Rican. [Click Here To Read More]

Omar's a force to be reckoned with, 2014 will be his year, everybody at 135 and 140 should take notice.

This is kid is scary literally, he has a unique way of getting in shots, especially to the body, switching on the move seems natural to him and from what I've seen he has the durability and toughness to do so. Not only the style, but his work rate is insane, he's like Santa Cruz in that regard, with better punching power in my opinion. I don't think Vazquez or Abril can deal with that kind of activity to win a decision.

He will bring it win or lose. I see some L's in his future though. They will be fun as hell as they last though.

as do I. I mean if you're a boxing fan you can appreciate the balls to the wall style he enforces on his opponents but a true boxing fan can see his deficiencies in each of his fights. The good thing is that his career his guided by Golden Boy promotion so they will carefully match this kid like the good promoters they are. He has yet to fight someone who is a puncher, mainly all boxers with terrible ko %.

He'd have a chance against Abril bcuz Abril isnt offensive minded so omar would be able to use the same game plan. the key would be to be accurate tho bcuz as well all know Abril is frustrating as hell.
As for Vasquez id stay away from him bcuz he would put a boxing clinic on just about anyone. a true boxer who can actually take a punch. Hes with Top Rank tho so it wouldnt happen unless golden boy won a purse bid

Then theres Ricky Burns. doesnt have a lot of power and doesnt look all that special, not to mention hes naturally the smaller guy.

ORRRRR......GBP go match him with Carlos Molina (no, not the junior middleweight) who just fought Amir Khan and isnt a big puncher but can take a punch and is game. Then go after Juan Diaz as they plan and who knows maybe fight for a vacant wbc lightweight title. Broner has since moved up to 147

He has a fury that reminds me a little of Duran.
