  • Comments Thread For: R. Garcia on Canelo-Mayweather, Donaire, Rios, More

With his entertaining unanimous decision victory over Austin Trout this past Saturday night, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is presently the man of the hour.

Dropping his cagey southpaw foe in the seventh round and landing sharp punches throughout, Alvarez came away with a unanimous decision victory over Trout inside of the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas in a Showtime-televised clash that saw his stock rise even further.

And while the scorecards reading 118-109, 116-111, and 115-112 didn’t do justice to highlight just how competitive the match really was, there’s no denying the star appeal that the 22-year old Alvarez has as the boxing world eyes his next move.

Catching up with some boxing insiders after the unification bout, I got two-time Trainer of the Year Robert Garcia’s opinion on Canelo’s performance and what his future holds, including a possible match with Floyd Mayweather down the road.

    Fluck Canelo Gayweather Fight

Tell Gaywrather to stop running from the best p4p Sergio Martinez at 154. Martinez will KO the **** out of Gayweather and beat the **** out of Alvarez also. This duck was offered a 80-20 split and still ducked before. Fraud always have an excuse not to fight the best.

Máyweather rant by the previous poster just made laugh. Sergio has someone his own size to fight. GGG! Besides, Sergio can't make 154. He's bluffing about that. Anyway, I agreed with Robert on everything except the Rios fight. Bam Bam lost. Clearly.

Tell sergio to go fight canelo and Andre ward! Somebody his own size! Canelo and
Sergio come in at fight night weighing over 170lbs! When Money had weighed no more than 151lbs! that's 20lbs! A big difference! But if anyone could do it, it would be Floyd! Because I guarantee u wouldn't give any other 140 or 147lbder a chance against either one of them! Tours how much credit u give floyd! And if I'm lying, give me a 140 or 147lbs fighter that u think is a good match up for either of them!

            Martinez #1 The 0 Taker

Martinez beats Triple G too. You are out of your mind if you think he doesn't. triple G is good, a powerful puncher but has no defense and not enough movement for Sergio. Would be a good fight but he would lose but Gayweater would get KO'd reasons why when reporters asked him about a fight with Martinez he clearly ducked the question and said that Martinez would be a good match up with Andre Dirrell who clearly fights at 168 and nobody asked about Dirrell nor did Sergio ever fight at 168. Gayweather fought at 154 vs Cotto and Oscar. Stop with the excuses.

Instead of Donaire moving down to Oxnard to train why doesn't Robert Garcia move his training camp up to Northern California instead?

Nonito is better and more skilled than "face first" Brandon Rios.

You're such an idiot. First off, Sergio doesn't deserve 80-20. That's roughly what Cotto got. That 80/20-150 catchweight deal was just a PR ploy to trick dummies, such as yourself. Martinez is LUCKY if he gets 10%.
