Comments Thread For: Lomachenko Shines, Ukrainian Otamans Cruise to the Finals

Vasyl Lomachenko, the best active amateur fighter for the last several years, considered by some to be the greatest boxer ever to lace up gloves at unpaid ranks, was a vital part of a huge success for his team "Ukrainian Otamans". The Ukrainian franchise became the first finalist of this season of the World Series of Boxing, a semi-pro tourney, conducted by the AIBA, by beating the "Italian Thunder" 5-0, thus hugely overturning the score following a convincing (1-4) away loss.

Can't wait for Lomachenko to turn pro. Hope the Mexican team wins the other semi-final. Should be a great battle between them and the Ukrainians.

This guy is the reason Felix Verdejo didnt win gold at last years olympics. They fought in the quarterfinals. I would love to see Verdejo get a shot at Lomachenko in the pros.

I thought that fight was closer than what it was scored but I never understand well enough Olympic scoring. Lomachenko was too strong then, but it was a good fight.
