Comments Thread For: Trout at 157 Pounds, Canelo at 159.2 at 7-Day Weigh-in

Austin Trout looks to be comfortably en route to making weight for his junior-middleweight title fight against Canelo Alvarez this Saturday at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Alvarez, meanwhile, has a couple more pounds to lose than Trout but also seems as if he will come in at the 154-pound limit.

According to World Boxing Council official William Boodhoo, Trout came in at 157 pounds on April 12, a figure certified by a Dr. Brown. Alvarez, meanwhile, came in at 159.2 pounds on April 13, a weigh-in witnessed by Rudy Tellez of the WBC.

The maximum either fighter could have been is 162 pounds. The WBC’s 7-day weigh-in requires fighters to be within 5 percent of the division limit. Trout had seven days to lose the final 3 pounds, while Alvarez had six days to lose the final 5.2 pounds.

    Good stuff!!

Shouldn't take much work for both men to get down to 154. They could probably just lose water weight and make it.

Good to see two guys who properly fit into the weight class without having to lose loads of weight/bulk up. No weight excuses it's all gonna be on their skills

      Cant wait!

I saw people talking how Trout is a huge jr middle the other day. Seems to fit in just fine. 3 pounds to go with a week left?

Anyone know if these guys dry out for the safety weigh ins or do they just step on to the scale as is? I would imagine if they did it wouldn't be to the degree that they do on fight night, but it's hard to imagine them both being this close. I'd have put them closer to the 162 limit.

Trout better be in the BEST shape of his life....he's gonna have to put Nelo down a few times to get a decision there....I expect Trout to box his ears off...thats all...if he get the decision or not is another story...I'm quite sure that story will be a hot topic around here on Sunday...it is what it is!!

If they are i'm sure it would just be a precaution. They arent gonna drain massively to get down to 157/159lbs if they only need to be at 162

Trout said before Cotto fight... "1st battle is losing the weight"... so I guess he struggles a bit.
