NATHAN CLEVERLY: 'KRASNIQI IS POTENTIALLY THE BEST I'VE FACED; GRITTY, STRONG AND PREPARED TO FIGHT ON THE FRONT FOOT. IT SHOULD BE VERY INTERESTING'

The time has come for WBO World Light-Heavyweight Champion Nathan Cleverly to finally stake his claim as the world’s leading light-heavyweight.

On Saturday evening the boxing boffin – a maths graduate from Cardiff University – headlines Frank Warren’s huge ‘Rule Britannia’ promotion at Wembley Arena in a tough mandatory defence against rising German based Kosovan Robin Krasniqi.

And the 26 year old is aware that an impressive victory could vault him into a Transatlantic superfight with IBF counterpart Bernard Hopkins this summer.

The whole card, which also features the comeback of Dereck Chisora plus Liam Walsh against Scott Harrison and Paul Butler, is live and exclusive in the UK, on BoxNation, the Channel of Champions, from 7pm on Saturday evening. Join at www.boxnation.com [Click Here To Read More]

Similar in terms of being from Wales and spending a lot of time fighting complete bums, that's about it. Clev is pretty *****.

Hopkins beat Calzaghe even though Slappy Joe got the gift.
I do not see how Cleverly can beat Benard, not even if Frank Warren's the only judge.

Quality interview can't argue with anything Nathan says, he is the younger guy and a more natural LH. He does share some attributes with Joe in his workrate/stamina and general fighting style. I'm not saying he'll beat B-Hop but he'll cause him a few problems for sure.

Looking forward to the Krasniqi fight this weekend. WAR CLEVERLY!

Nonito Donaire - "I'm very similar to Manny Pacquiao!"

ummmmmmm....So your a white guy and you box. This run of Hopkins does make Calzaghe's win look more impressive. That said, I think Bernard lost the fight by his own willingness and if he knew what he knows now (specifically that his career was not over b/c of the Taylor losses) he would have taken Calzaghe out.
