  • Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr. Prefers Golovkin or Ward Next, Not Martinez

Former World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (46-1-1, 32KOs) does not appear interested in rematch, at least for the moment, with current champion Sergio Martinez.

Chavez would rather have fights with boxers who he believes will stand in front of him and fight - like WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin or WBA/WBC super middleweight titleholder Andre Ward.

"Martinez has placed too many conditions, has said many things, as always he is a bit talkative and lacks humility. There are great middleweight champions, like Golovkin. I can also fight with Andre Ward. These fights are much more interesting and I think they would present a better show for the people, so I would have to look at the possibility of making these big fights after June 22," Chavez said.

Realistically he's not going to fight Golovkin, so it looks like we might see Chavez Jr. v Ward.

        Chavez Jr. v Ward
        Martinez v Froch

          Does not matter

Ward destroys Chavez easily and pretty much beats every other boxer in existence except top tier cruiserweights and heavyweights and Golovkin changes the color of Chavez's hair to match Canelo's.

I really can see Ward getting into trouble with Chavez, all Ward does is jab and grab from a distance. Chavez has an iron chin, he'll take a couple shots from Ward get into close quarters and unleash to the body and right hooks, then jab and grab oh I mean Ward will get broken down. As long as Jr stays away from them special brownies he absolutely has a chance of beating jab and grab. U have to be utterly ****** to say Ward destroys Jr. Jr is a big boy with a lot of power. Jab and Grab has never faced an opponent with Jr's strength.

Because both fighters like to come forward and **** power shots, a Golovkin vs Chavez Jr fight would be a fight of the year candidate! Talking about a Ward fight is extremely ****** on his part. The last thing he needs is to fight another mover or a boxer that will not stand still and let him work. Golovkin has the perfect style for Chavez Jr. Fight of the year if this happens.
