How can they possibly top the first one?

That was the question asked of Brandon Rios and Mike Alvarado from the moment they agreed to a rematch to their unforgettable clash last October. Each fighter had the other in trouble on several occasions before Rios took over to force a 7th round stoppage in his first official bout at the 140 lb. limit.

The move in weight came on the heels of back-to-back disasters at the scales, forcing Rios to relinquish his lightweight. The hard-fought stoppage win over Alvarado also helped in part to erase the bad memories of a controversial decision win over Richard Abril and an injury that prompted him to pull out of a summer clash that would have aired live on HBO.

I'm going against the grain and picking Alvarado. Rios made Alvarado fight his fight last time and if Alvarado learned anything from their last match he should be able to box Rios. Either way this will be a good fight.

Alvarado can win and I want him to but he would have to fight and extremely smart and disciplined fight which I don't think he can for 12 rounds.

I just see Alvarado boxing well early, and folding under the pressure later on. He'll get dragged into another war, and unfortunately I expect Rios to get the best of that. We've already seen he can stop Alvarado. I think we see that again.

I picked Alvarado last time and I'll pick him again. He had some good ideas the first go-around, but he wasn't executing them properly. When he got on the inside, he tried to use a defensive shell like Abril, but was getting caught with dumb shots. Hopefully he works on that, and he also needs to make use of clinching.

12 rounds is a long time to keep rios off you especially when your boxing skills are okay at best.

            RIOS by KO

I got a few bills bet on Alvarado. Hopefully the ref doesn't stop it early.

The body language of the two fighters in every picture and video I've seen tells me Rios feels prepared for a war (and actually looks like he is somewhat in shape for the first time in his life) and Mike looks like he doesn't want to be there. I think this one ends early and is very one sided for Rios. Hope I'm wrong cause I'm rooting for Mike.

Not sure about these staff predictions: three 'experts' have these guys winning 12 round fights and its only scheduled for 10.
