Comments Thread For: Team Provodnikov Explain Protest of Tim Bradley Fight

On the latest edition of BoxingScene Radio Ruslan Provodnikov's manager Vadim Kornilov informed us that a request has been to over turn the Siberian's unanimous decision loss to WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley.

This past Saturday Provodnikov gave Bradley all he could handle in losing a close decision. The 29-year-old fighter knocked Bradley down in the first round but referee Pat Russell ruled that Bradley slipped and didn't count the knock down. If the knock down was counted the extra point would have resulted in the fight ending in a majority draw or possibly a first round knockout victory for Provonikov since Bradley fell down as he attempted to rise to his fight after the knock down was ruled a slip. Actually, there were THREE points during the fight when the ropes kept Bradley from falling to the canvas. That's THREE knockdowns that Pat Russell took away from the Russian kid.

        what?

There is no protest. I'll even give him 10-8 first round and 10-9 second.....no problem with that whatsoever.......BUT....he got his ass worked until the 12th......I'm sick of ppl getting boners over a 12th round knock down......BTW, that doesn't mean **** if u got worked so bad Ur eyes were closed cause of his "weak, unfeeling" punches....pretty sure he felt them....just cause he connected with a few power punches means nothing...had respect for the guy but lost it when he said he " felt nothing." Really? Well your eye felt something....ask the cut and blood and swelling....who looked like the fought.....a few punches don't take away from 8-9 rounds of dominance.....sorry

Getting a 10-8 may have been enough to get him the draw, but you can't retrospectively change that because the fight could well have gone differently had he been given the extra point in the first round. The time for the deduction has passed, he should be crying for a rematch, not a change of result.

Yep, which is probably what they're really shooting for, a mandatory rematch. Even real wide robberies don't get overturned.
