  • Comments Thread For: B-Scene Staff Picks: Jessie Vargas v. Wale Omotoso

Jessie Vargas is battle tested at the prospect/fringe contender level, most notably barely surviving a 10-round affair against Josesito Lopez in their Sept. ‘11 war.

Wale Omotoso is an intriguing prospect stepping up in class for the first time in his six-year career.

Their common bond – two unbeaten prospects looking to make the transition to contender status in a loaded and lucrative welterweight division.

How does the staff at Boxingscene.com see the action going down tonight at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California? Read on to find out. [Click Here To Read More]

Omotoso is a bit underrated IMO. He is talented, maybe not as talented as Vargas. But, he's got good hand speed and foot speed, a very good left hook as well as a good right hand. He's actually beaten some decent journeyman and gatekeepers like Tyner and Augustus. Hard one to pick for me. I'm gonna go with the underdog here. In a tough scrap where it's hard to separate the two, Omotoso down the stretch lands one of those mean left hooks, shakes Vargas up and takes him out in a surprising FOTY contender.

A nasty beating? Sure you're talking about the same fight?
