Comments Thread For: Hearn: Vazquez Not on The Immediate Radar For Burns

With Monday’s announcement of Ricky Burns signing with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Sport also came confirmation of his next fight, which will take place on May 11 in Scotland.

The opponent and the venue have yet to be secured, though Burns’ new handlers have designs on both. The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) is being sought, with the venue holding upwards of 10,000 fans for a given boxing event. The site played host to Burns’ last ring appearance, a 4th round knockout of Kevin Mitchell last September.

“Ricky will make his next appearance May 11. That leads the way for us for Ricky’s future – Scotland,” Hearn announced to the assembled media on Monday. “We’ve seen the fights he’s had out there, obviously Kevin Mitchell, (Paulus) Moses. Just being out there recently let me see the huge the following he has out there. We plan to build on that for the future.”

The matter presently at hand is to sort out Burns’ immediate future. [Click Here To Read More]

That's disappointing that they're ducking Vasquez for now.

There's always Richard Abril, Yuriorkis Gamboa, and I guess that Denis Shafikov guy that Freedom is always jockriding. Let's see if Burns will step up against any of them.

At first I read it as Hearn trying to make something off Burns before he loses his strap to Vasquez or Broner, but they're probably shying away from Vasquez for now because of the legal drama with Warren. Broner's now busy fighting that kid who hits like a girl and, honestly Ricky should stay away from Broner.

If both keep winning he will be..... That's the best fight at LW at the moment considering Broner looks like hes done with the division

Broner came to lightweight took out the weakest champ, fought a hard as nails midget and now he's looking to leap frog a very dangerous 140 divison and fighting the weakest champ at 147. granted Burns ducked him but Broner ducked Vazquez.

Burns is kind of screwed, he ducked Broner and now he's ducking Vazquez.
