  • Comments Thread For: Chad Dawson Won't Be Upset if Pascal Finalizes Bute Deal

As I had noted recently, former champion Jean Pascal recently made his second visit to Las Vegas this year in an ongoing effort to continue sharpening his skills as he enters the veteran stage of his career.

While the 30-year-old Pascal was originally slated for a May 25th HBO-televised rematch against Chad Dawson in his adopted hometown of Quebec, Canada, news later hit that former IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute may instead be next in line.

Catching up with Dawson recently, the sport’s reigning WBC light heavyweight champion spoke on the possibility of seeing a second encounter with Pascal, the first man to defeat him, slip away.

    I thought Dawson is D O N E...

Dawson is at a right crossroad in his career. He never should have allowed Ward to dictate terms for him. Ward would never do the same. I just dont see who he could fight next bar Pascal. Maybe target Shumenov? Someone known, world title unification and a confidence builder?

Yeah you are right with Dawson being at a crossroad. Pascal is the fight he needs.

He called out ward and said that he had not problem making that weight....... That was a ****** move, Ward just used it to this advantage. Would have like to see ward move up to Light Heav tho.

Another problem that Dawson has is that he not the most exciting fighter. A fight with Pascal would sell well in Canada not USA

Ward never dictated the terms of the fight. Dawson made the decision to call out Ward and he "offered" to come down ot 168. Ward took the fight based on Dawson's words. That was Dawson's fought he "chose" to drop down to 168. I'm sure he learned a valuable lesson from the experience.

You know a fighter is weightdrained when he gets Ko'd by Andre Ward. Very bad mistake by Dawson to go down to 168. Who kow what would have happened in a fight at 175 pounds?

Ward was offered a 171 catchweight, and he refused, which was well within his right. Dawson painted himself into a corner, and was ****** to do so, but Ward did want him weight drained. No one can deny that.

Chad can beat most LHWs out there, but the biggest challenge to his career is Chad Dawson. He has way too much of a hard head, won't listen to any advice. I wish him well, he's a great fighter albeit boring at times, but he has to realize there are some wise heads that he should listen to now and then.

Yes, it is pretty easy to deny. Dawson has been talking about dropping to 168, potentially permanently, for about 5 years now, often times going on about he easily he could make that weight. I am shocked he appeared negatively affected by the cut after all his bragging.
