Comments Thread For: Marcos Maidana Talks Lopez, Mayweather-Guerrero, More

The next opponent for former WBA junior welterweight champion Marcos Maidana appears to be set, as an intriguing match with Riverside’s Josesito Lopez looks to be a go for June 8th in Carson, California at the Home Depot Center.

During a recent swing through the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy in Oxnard, I caught up with Maidana on the eve of a light training session and he spoke on the danger of his next assignment.

“Difficult opponent,” Maidana said with respect of Lopez. “Throws a lot of punches, but I am training to come out as a winner.”

IMO Josesito is making extremely ****ty career decisions. He's gone from a career-high beating Ortiz, to setting himself up for an ass-kicking against a 154lber, now he wants to get into another blood-and-guts war with Maidana at 147. Jesus, give yourself a break. His manager is a ****ing ****** apparently. At this pace the kid will be shot to **** in a few years.

Maidana used to talk **** about Mayweather. I'm surprised he's showing him any respect. Maidana has improved a lot under Garcia, and will be a fairly tough fight for anyone.

War Maidana. From the man himself, He wants a Floyd fight, and he doesn't respect Guerrero. I been said Maidana sparks out The Ghost too, over and over. I still say that. If he wins in impressive fashion against Lopez, and maybe one other impressive win, he will get the MW fight. Chino deserves more credit, he is one of the most downplayed fighters in boxing.

He is one of the few fighters who actually wants to fight the best. I love it, he's a beast! I got him decisioning Maidana. Then a title shot will be on the horizon. WAR JOSESITO!

Duh, what's not to love? That doesn't change the fact that from a career/long-term-health standpoint, they're dumb decisions. He may be an entertaining and brave young warrior, but that's part of what makes it so unfortunate that they're sacrificing him at such a young age. Remember, he's a 140lber. Not 154, not 147. We'll see how he looks. I'll be rooting for him either way.

When did Maidana "Use to talk **** about Floyd"? LMAO. ESNEW has several videos on his channel. And Ellie Seckback is interviewing Maidana and he says his favorite fighter currently is Mayweather and he looks up to him and he's a great fighter. So please supply us with the link to the video or article where Maidana was talking a lot of **** about Floyd. I'd love to hear/see it since I've never seen it to this point.
