  • Comments Thread For: Klitschko-Pianeta Finalized For May 4th at The SAP Arena

IBF/WBA/WBO/IBO and "The Ring Magazine“ World Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko will defend his titles against Francesco Pianeta at the SAP arena Mannheim, Germany on May 4.

Francesco Pianeta was born in Cosenza (Italy) and moved with his parents to Gelsenkirchen, Germany at the age of 6. He is 28 years old, undefeated and 6´3”. Southpaw Pianeta was WBC Junior World Champion and EBU Champion. In his eight-year-career he beat former WBC Heavyweight Champion Oliver McCall and four-time world title challenger Francois Botha. However, his most difficult fight Pianeta had outside the ring: When cancer was diagnosed in 2009 he was forced to stop his sports. After overcoming the illness he had a tremendous comeback in the ring in 2010. Pianeta is ranked # 9 in the WBO and # 12 in the WBA and IBO. He has a fight record of 28-0 wins with 15 KOs and one draw.

I'm looking forward to seeing Wlad fight again.

Francesco Pianeta has overcome a lot of adversity. He deserves this title shot and a decent payday more than many past heavyweight title challengers.

This guy was booted out of Wlad's camp because his sparring was so bad, Wlad's waitress (Chef) said so in another thread. This guy's not good enough for sparring but good enough for a world title fight? Just another in the long line of cherry picked opponents by the Klitschko's. This guy even has a draw against the great Albert Sosnowski who fought Vitali (remember him? recently lost to Martin Rogan).

          You're lying.

Boxingchef said Pianeta was very good, but he couldn't emulate Thompson's style. Don't twist his words.

You have a sick agenda of hatred against the Klitschkos.

He said that about Thompsons style after i pointed out that picking a guy he beat the crap out of is the ultimate cherry picking. This is what he said originally.

actually I told wlad "we need to send Pianeta home"..Wlad agreed. then Pianeta's trainers started to ***** and complain about being sent home

We kept them 1 more week then sent them home, but the sparring was the same. wlad beat him from post to post

that's pathetic lol and good job pulling up that quote...no body but bums left for these guys to fight so now they're fighting sparring partners who weren't even good enough to give them a sparring match...I thought Solis would give Vitali a good fight and he was outboxing him relatively easily in the first round till he injured his knee...don't care what ppl say I've injured my knee just as bad without ever twisting it or anything, just one awkward step, plus I'm 150lbs and this guy is a 240lb+ HW who's got 11 rounds left against the HW champ I don't see how he faked it.

Only fight I'd like to see is that rematch and maybe Haye vs Vitali cuz Vitali is older slower and more reckless than Wlad and it could still be a good fight

Hi Freedom - don't concern yourself with these guys no matter who Klitschko faces they would of complained - these are the same guys who think Haye (the toe) deserves another shot.

Yes. It's wisest to just ignore the Klitschko haters.
