Comments Thread For: King Reflects on Hopkins-Trinidad, Expects Cloud KO Win

Don King didn’t really respond on a conference call when he was asked about Bernard Hopkins predicting he would put King’s depleted promotional company out of the boxing business by beating Tavoris Cloud on March 9 in Brooklyn.

The ever-verbose promoter instead called Hopkins “an excellent fighter” and “a credit to the sport.” King also contended that he and Hopkins have never had a “protagonist-antagonist” relationship, despite Hopkins’ complaints about his time as a King-promoted middleweight champion.

I appreciate fans of fighters and promotors of the fighters...but at the EOD, Hopkins is and was always the better fighter and would have won the fight regardless..

With the run and dominance that Tito was on at the time, I think many just found it hard to believe that a fighter (Hopkins) who was 36 at the time would be able to beat a young, hard hitting dynamo in Trinidad

All of these stuff could of help Hopkins but we will never know since Trinidad did fight him again.

Even though he trashed Joppy, I never liked him fighting at middleweight. Moved up too fast IMO. And Bernard was already an established great middleweight. He would have maybe still won but you never know. No excuses though. It is what it is. I hate Hopkins cuz I think he's a racist prick and can't wait to see Cloud finish this old piece of ****.

Wow, Tito was such a patriot & a hero. But seriously, no version of Tito could beat Bernard Hopkins.

This fight sounds like King wanting to avenge his money man's loss in the BHop/Tito fight.

Unless Hopkins has finally become the almost 50 year old man he actually is, I just don't see Cloud giving him any trouble whatsoever.

Don is ****in hilarious. He's full of **** to the nth degree, but he shines it so well it makes you almost believe him. That's an art right there, and I don't think we appreciate it enough

Hopkins is at the point age wise where you never know what to expect come fight time. Something tells me he won't be able to turn back the clock one more time. But I hope I'm wrong.
