Great article. The level of competition these guys fought in their first 11 fights is nothing short of impressive.

Great article and I have to be totally honest....i've never watched an Ioka fight, but I'll be damned if i'm not about to head to the trading block and youtube and make myself totally aware of the guy and catch all 11 of his fights (if they are on film?)

And Chav, if you haven't heard of Ioka then you may not have seen the 2011 BoxingScene Fight of the Year either. before you get to his unifier with Yaegashi, watch this for full appreciation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4Uv7oPjB1o

Ioka: Impressive the timing of his jab, all well synchronized with his step and hip; Loaded punches, nice lateral movements, the defence department is okay. He is one step down from Rigo or Nonito.

In the case of Rigo he really didn't have the wiggle room bcse of his age not to mention his pedigree in the amas. so there was no need to go through the typical progressions of step-up fights.

Though in Iokas case he could of done things a bit slower considering his popularity but he's clearly driven and just has the talent to excel so early, however I think he could use a bit more seasoning before taking on Gonzalez who is a monster either or kudos for his ambition

Been watching him all evening, he is a real solid little fighter. The guys this low down the weights usually go under my radar, but I'm glad I've watched this guy in action. I love his body shots and how he doesn't mind engaging to get his shots off. He has nice footwork too, although I didn't think much of it at first, he's quite deceptive all round. A nice balanced fighter
