Comments Thread For: John Molina Says Move To Robert Garcia Has Paid Off

Los Angeles, CA - Getting a KO win against slick Dannie Williams seems to have gone a long way for John ''Gladiator'' Molina to clear the air regarding his loss against (now former) WBC Lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco back in September of last year.

Taking as little possible time off, landing a WBO NABO Lightweight title shot against Williams and a change in trainers seems to have been a good move to start the year with the right foot forward

Robert is def one of today top trainers. He gives clear, direct instruction, and he builds a good relationship with his fighters

Robert cool just dont like him yapping all round long, I want to see a ref tell him to shut the hell up or get a point deducted (not even sure if thats possible, but I know you cant couch inbetween rounds) Just he yaps and yaps, I sat behind them one time and damn all I heard was him.

I like Molina. Always have. The :44 shutout against DeMarco was very disappointing. If he would have just taken a knee, the outcome may have been very very different.

This always happens. Fighters lose then they change trainers then they win their next fight but once their second fights comes around they lose it or look like ****.

                Good, NOT GREAT

As the title says, "Good, Not Great." Robert Garcia is a POPULAR trainer. He is an okay trainer - if you are so lucky to get any actual time with him, not his roadies. When the smoke clears, people will see what all has seen in Oxnard for some time. Robert Garcia is just an okay trainer that teaches one style to his many fighters. Well, GREAT Trainers know that every fighter is different, so a one size does not fit all. Robert was a better Fighter than he is a trainer. Robert teaches one way - pressure, pressure, pressure, go forward, forward, forward. He does not teach to box. Does not teach lateral movement. Does not study tapes. Does not have a Plan B or Plan C. His fighters cannot adjust if that is what is needed. Case in point - look at Brandon Rios and Richard Abril. Abril is an ugly fighter but he did win that fight. Why? Because he boxed, jabbed, and held, all night long. What did Brandon Rios do to adjust? Nothing!!! He kept coming out doing the same thing and expecting different RESULTS! What did Robert tell him to do differently? NOTHING! The way things go on now is that Robert has his fighters spar one another. He may yell some tips here and there but there is no real training. All this will be figured out soon. If any fighter expects to spend any quality time with Robert Garcia, forget about it. He is over extended the way it is. Harsh but TRUE. Keeping it Legit. Too Legit to Quit.

You forgot to mention Donaire and the Mathebula fight. Donaire is not a pressure fighter but if he can't get his opponent out of there early all he knows to do is load up on left hooks and hope for a prayer.
