Comments Thread For: Adamek Focused on Securing Title Shot in 2013

In 2012, former two division champion Tomasz Adamek (48-2, 29 KOs) fought four times, beating Nagy Aguilera, Eddie Chambers, Travis Walker and Steve Cunningham. The last bout, won by the Pole by split decision, fueled controversy, because many fans and boxing experts felt Cunningham was the winner. Anyway, Adamek, 36, most likely will face undefeated Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev (17-0, 9 KOs) in a final IBF heavyweight eliminator sometime in the spring. If he defeats the Bulgarian, he will become the mandatory challenger to face the heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko (59-3, 50 KOs).

Well if he beats Pulev, he can fight Wlad in the fall and then retire with a knockout loss.
But Adamek could also pursue the vacant WBC when Vitali retires. There's his chance to become 3 division world champ.

Gets a gift decision against a career welterweight......wants title shot. Adamek is just like Haye, a has-been. Haye V Adamek should happen if they think they earned anything. These two schmucks haven't done anything in a long ass time. Won't matter, if Pulev is as good as they say he is, Adameks head will be laying in the second row.

Adamek is done. He still hasn't recovered from the Vitali loss.

            THIS ^^^^^

He took a terrible beating, and as Manny Steward on HBO as well as the UK commentators said during the fight, it should have been stopped sooner than it was.

Adamek should avoid fighting Pulev, he has little chance of winning.

What do you mean, he has everything to win in such a fight. Don't write Adamek off just yet.

Adamek is such a classic throwback fighter. Although I do disagree that there would be no interest in a trilogy with Cunningham. He isn't interested because he knows that fight won't get him any closer to his goal of a title. Even though, he got beat up bt Vitali I think his style meshes well with Wlad. Hope he gets that fight. Would love to see Adamek/Arreola II for the vacant WBC strap if Vitali retires.

I think Pulev is going to be a tall order for Adamek at this stage.
