Comments Thread For: Alex Arthur: Ricky Burns Need To Have Bigger Fights

Former world champion Alex Arthur believes WBO lightweight king Ricky Burns (35-2, 10KOs) needs bigger fights. He says the previously scheduled matches with Jose Ocampo, and Liam Walsh, were below the proper standards of who the champion should be fighting.

He'll fight Jose Ocampo and Liam Walsh with no problem. But not Broner.

I think that's more to do with Warren not having too many meal tickets these days than any fear on Burns part.

Probably. Sounds like Warren is scared to death of making this fight.

Unfortunatlly Burns has the same problem as Nathan Cleverley IE-Frank Warren. Both need American promotors if there to get unification fights & gain any credibility.

Ocampo and Walsh will fight him in the UK, Broner will not.

If Broner was coming to the UK he would want to get paid, if Burns is going to the US the same applies.

Burns through his promoter has named his price at £400k, if they pay the man we have a fight to watch.

He's never made even half of that in any of his fights I bet.

Yep the most Ricky Burns has made is around £200,000 against Kevin Mitchell, Burn's manager Alex Morrison has said they will only take the Broner fight for £500,000 and only £400,000 was put on the table so both teams walked away and looked elsewhere.

£400,000 was offered and team Burns countered the offer wanting £500,000, £100,000 more . This is why the fight is not happening.
