  • Comments Thread For: Froch: Not Bute, Next Fight is Kessler, That's For Sure

IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch has advised Sky Sports News that he is confident that a rematch with Mikkel Kessler will take place in the Spring of 2013. There is rematch clause to face Lucian Bute in the first half of the new year, but Froch says the Bute fight will not happen in the coming months. Froch destroyed Bute in five rounds back in May, but he badly wants to avenge a twelve round decision loss to Kessler from 2010.

    good decision by Froch
Kessler riding a couple KO wins, holds a fake WBA belt now
good time to fight him and avenge the hometown screwjob
Bute isn't going anywhere, Froch can add a 2nd win over him later
fight was one sided enough the rematch isn't necessary at all
think the 2nd fight will be better than the 1st, and Froch will win it clearly

Personally I'd have preferred that Kessler used his mandatory position to get that return with Ward. He already has a deserved win against Froch and the Cobra will continue to seek out a chance of redemption untill hell freezes over.

That being said this is a great match-up which is bound to produce another cracker.

Fair play to Kessler for giving Froch the chance in his homecountry.

Its the least he could have done after taking Froch's 0 with a home town decision
