Comments Thread For: Amir Khan Satisfied With Win, Using New Ring Skills

Amir Khan sealed a much-needed victory when he stopped Carlos Molina in Los Angeles on Saturday night. Molina was unable to come out for the eleventh round of the bout as the Briton restored his image to some extent and finished a disappointing year on a higher note. Khan, a former WBA and WBC junior welterweight champion, took charge of the non-title junior welterweight fight and extended his professional record to 26-3, with 18 knockouts. Now trained by Virgil Hunter, the boxer received the vacant WBC silver super-lightweight title for his trouble as he moved on to fight another day.

if khan really wants to make a big statement, then he should face someone in the top 10 p4p of the division. khan's performance against molina just shows he can beat up a lightweight half his size, a lightweight who had no defense and was not throwing back, if we throw khan in with a ****er like rios, garcia or even matthysse, he gets sent to retirement.

i give khan props for beating maidana, it could just be a fluke. khan needs a lot more notches under his belt (or more lightweights to beat up) before he even thinks of fighting the top dogs of the division

lol he was on a 2 fight losing streak before this fight.. why would he jump into a fight with those guys? Don't you think he would need a confidence boost?

Top 10 of a division is the 10 best dudes in a division.

Top 10 P4P is the 10 best in boxing altogether.

            They don't go together.

What I saw last night makes me think that Khan gets KO'd right now by anyone with good punching power and decent boxing skills.

This was a good confidence boost and hopefully he'll improve more with Virgil Hunter, but tonight he showed some of that same vulnerability against left hooks that he showed against Danny Garcia.

I want to see Khan-Maidana 2. Both are showing new skills under new tutelage.
Both are trying to claw back into the spotlight. I think one more fight for each and then they should be put back into the ring with each other.

Now that Khan has his patience in check, he needs some extensive defensive training. No need to fight til at least June IMO, stay in the gym and learn. No lesson learned or displayed last night. Khan would have won that fight without a trainer.

didn't even bother watching the fight, wasn't interested
Khan couldn't have proven much beating the guy he fought
but he has his confidence building comeback win
now it's time for him to step back into the fire with JWW elites
go for a Garcia rematch if he can get it, think he'd win

Outside of not going for broke when he could have, there was little improvement in Khan last night. His balance was a tad bit better but that's about it.. I think under Roach Khan would have KO'ed Molina quickly anyway, he just fought with more caution because of Virgil but he was still vulnerable to the same punches he always been vulnerable too, mainly the overhand right as Roach stated..
