Comments Thread For: Carlos Molina: This is My Shot, Amir Khan Had His Time

Do not dare to call Carlos Molina an underdog, especially for his scheduled 12 round bout tonight against Amir Khan at the Sports Arena in Los Angeles, CA.

He has been hearing the label during the buildup to the fight. Has it fazed him? No. Does he get tired of hearing it? He’s not one to say.

But the 27 year old fighter could tell you that he was destined to arrive at this moment in his career, which is fighting one of the best junior welterweights in the world and not far from his hometown of Rosemead.

if molina wins, i thinks he becomes a full pledge light ww and should shake up the division. if khan wins, it just pretty much says he can only beat up lightweights

If Molina wins, I think it's safe to say Khan should hang them up. There's no way he would be taken seriously again. If he starts getting knocked out by feather-fisted prospects, he's got no room in the conversation of elite fighters.

That said, I don't really see how Molina wins. He's decent. He's basically a "solid" fighter but not great in any way, and he doesn't have big power. Khan should stop him. He's been in with tougher opponents before and losing this wouldn't make any sense at all.

As far as Khan winning goes, I think it's serving merely the purpose of getting him going again. He wins this to settle in to working with Hunter a bit, and they step up their opposition slowly based on how he's doing. If Khan is responding well to Hunter, he could have a decent run. Hunter's one of the best in the game right now, and as long as they click I think he's his best bet for redemption.
