Comments Thread For: De La Hoya Praises Guerrero, Floyd Sr. as Best Trainer

On Tuesday, while at a media workout in conjunction with this weekend’s Amir Khan-Carlos Molina headlined-show at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya spent some time speaking with members of the media about various topics in the sport.

The conversation eventually turned to the 2013 return of pound for pound stalwart Floyd Mayweather Jr.

There's a big difference in fighting Andre Berto in Ontario, CA and facing Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas, NV. I don't think the tactic he used against Berto is going to be wise against Mayweather. Mayweather is a very dirty fighter on the inside and he is way more intelligent than Andre Berto. The ref in Vegas will not let Guerrero get away with the rough housing. He will take points and force Guerrero to face the handspeed and accuracy.

That thumb to Berto's eye, early in the fight, didn't hurt either.

Not sure If De La Hoya knows what he's talking about? Berto much stronger than Floyd? That's almost laughable. I guess If he's just considering Berto's punching power, then yes, but If we are talking about all around physical strength ala ability to absorb a punch, or 12 rd stamina then Berto isn't even close to being as strong as lil Floyd is, and boxing is more about all around strength not just punching power imo...

Does anyone else think Guerrero-Mayweather has like a 95% chance of ending with a DQ?
